PREVIOUSLY:
The battle to re-take the city of Muse begins. Although the forces of both sides were about equal, Jowy suddenly orders the withdrawal of the Highland soldiers, leaving the Karayans to guard Muse, who were easily outmatched.
A party led by Riou and Viktor goes inside to check the deserted city. As they make it to the city hall, a golden beast suddenly appears before them. Riou's party manage to defeat the large foe, but the city is soon filled with the same monster that they have defeated.
The party soon escapes out of the city, evading the monsters in the process. According to Luc, the monsters that they have encountered are slaves of a rune handed down from the kingdom of Harmonia to the Blight family. The Beast rune can only be awakened using blood sacrifice, explaining the ritual previously performed by Luca Blight in the city.
Attempting to corner Riou and his allies in Muse city, the highland army returns to make a surprise attack. With Apple's quick thinking, they managed to escape back to Dunan castle unharmed.
Back at the headquarters, Kiba is called by Shu to discuss the plan for the next battle. Wanting to take advantage of the instability in the Knightdom of Matilda, a small unit led by Kiba will attack the Mercenary Fortress to serve as a decoy, forcing the Highland Army to divide their forces, giving the main units attacking Matilda lesser enemies in the process.
Kiba understands that the mission is very risky, and will likely lead to his demise, but he gladly accepts. Serving Riou and the Dunan army has been a blessing for Kiba, giving him a reason to continue fighting. The proud general insists that he only takes the soldiers that followed him from back in Highland, and asks Shu to take care of Klaus as he could become a brilliant strategist someday.
Everyone gathers inside the meeting room, with Shu explaining the details for their next battle. The leaders from all the cities and tribes expresses their support to Riou, before Leknaat appears to congratulate the Dunan army leader for uniting all of the 108 stars of destiny, unlocking the hidden powers of the Bright Shield rune in the process.
The next morning, Kiba and Klaus bids their farewell, expressing how proud they are of each other before the general leaves with his soldiers for his mission.
