(Super CD 60fps) Crest of Wolf - I had a smudge on an audio track : o ~ The Beat Up #51
Crest of Wolf is the Japanese version of the PC Engine beat 'em up known as Riot Zone in North America -- and you may be better off watching my play-through of that one ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQZsJD3mq9U ; there I play as blond hero-man Hawk, while here I play as large, mohawked, pimp-walking Tony), because for this play through, as I found at the end, my Crest of Wolf CD-ROM had a smudge on its underside, which explained why the music would just die at certain points in the play-through. : o I thought about pausing the game and taking the disc out to look at it, but I wasn't 100% sure that wouldn't cause the game to reset or something.
So after finally getting through the game I went to the Options screen and played each music track one-by-one with the Sound option, and found (1:05:05) it was track 3 that was cutting out--and at that point I finally took the disc out, found the smudge, wiped it off, and voila, the track played (1:06:05). : P So I'll have to do another, non-smudged play-through at some point!
It was doubly sad that the music would cut out because Tony has what very well may be the pimpinest walk in gaming (13:40), and strutting just ain't proper without suitably righteous musical accompaniment.
You get like 5 continues or something, and it was getting kind of close as things went on! The game loves to ambush you with guys leaping or diving in from OFF THE SCREEN, which isn't quite kosher. Fortunately (I guess : P), most of the later bosses--for instance, second to last stage boss @ 41:07, and final bosses @ 54:22 --can just be jump-kicked to death, at minimal risk. That just squeaked me through to the end!
