(PCE 60fps) Die Hard - or just run around in a maze and give up ~ The Shoot Up #67
This has to be an unlicensed game, right? At least as far as the movie rights go, I mean; the game only came out in Japan, in 1990. Anyway it's Die Hard on the PC Engine, and you play a guy who looks not quite like a younger Bruce Willis, who after running around like a swamp or something for a while in isometric or would you say top-down run-and-gun mode, ends up in a office-building-like place that maybe is not quite Nakatomi Plaza, especially because the first part at least is a weird maze with oddly similar floor layouts that teleport you back to the previous "floor" if you pick incorrectly between two doors at two different junctures per floor.
And that's as far as I got, because although I could have sworn I tried each combination of doors, I couldn't seem to stop from getting teleported back to the beginning again.
Although just now I seem to have stumbled across the solution to the maze, in this review of the game: https://obscurevideogames.com/2016/07/26/die-hard-review-turbografx-16/ -- so now I have to move it out of my "forget this game" pile and back into the "try it again" pile. Which is good because the actual shooting action, if a little on the easy side mostly, maybe, it really solid and pretty fun.
Good job, not-Bruce.
