(PCE 60fps) Drop Rock Hora Hora - Breakout meets Puzzle Bobble ~ Duo-R-ventures #13
The PC Engine game Drop Rock Hora Hora, it's pretty much Breakout and Puzzle Bobble squished together and morphed into giant fruit.
Big clusters of fruit descend slowly down the screen as you try to break off bits of them with your bouncing ball. To me it gets a little awkward in that you get "bombs" that retract the descending clusters of fruit back up the screen a ways; but you really make your big points by knocking off huge clusters as they're right down around you, so is retracting the clusters even a good idea? I guess it could save you from getting squished under fruit and eh I'm just not smart enough to have that kind of self-preservation yet in the game.
Also a little funky is that you can have your paddle, which for some reason is round instead of flat, in two positions: one position causes the ball to rebound at wider angles than the other.
So, pretty weird game, but kind of fun for all that.
