I'm comparing the original N64 game with the Wii VC and Wii U VC releases.

Both VC versions have the strange text issue where text and icons on screen don't display correctly during gameplay, except for when you lose all your health, the drop shadows will display correctly. Both versions also don't slow down or drops the framerate like the N64 original did at points.

The Wii VC version unfortunately is not faithful to the colors of the original game since it looks darker than on N64. (I did use composite cables to record the Wii footage.) At least it looks sharper than what you get on Wii U. White graphical/geometry lines appear throughout the game on walls and textures. When using the invisible cap or teleporting Mario is just transparent without the flickering effect in the original. Input lag isn't too noticeable here.

The Wii U version is also dark as well, possibly even more then the original Wii VC. The picture is not as sharp as Wii VC. The white graphical/geometry lines still are still seen throughout the game. The transparency issue with the invisible cap from the Wii VC is fixed, but input lag is more noticeable here.
