After saving Daisy in the first game, Mario returns home to find his Castle has been jacked by a wicked man known as WARIO!

Apparently the two knew each other way back when, and Wario's always been jealous of the red-hatted plumber. Many attempts have been made to swipe the castle before, but apparently when Mario went to Sarasaland, Wario saw this as the perfect opportunity to do a bit of squatting!

Brainwashing the inhabitants of the Island, the rotund trickster locks the castle doors with a spell, and only the power of the titular 6 Golden Coins can break it.

Mario must now travel to the six zones on the island, take down the bosses and retrieve the coins if he's ever going to see the inside of his home again.
