A text dump of my thoughts while I wait for this video to process before going to bed:

Today's political climate is incredibly charged, and confirmation bias is pretty bad right now. You can basically find sources or people that back you up no matter what you believe, even if it's something as crazy as anti-vaxx, and people in power will also back you up if there's money or publicity they can gain from it. It's important to research all possible data on a subject to see if you're right/wrong and come to a conclusion that way, but people just aren't interested and want to believe that they're right by default and everyone else is wrong.

It's very easy to get sucked into fear-mongering political media, and it adversely affects your head space. These people don't want the best for you, but for themselves, and they want to convince you into feeling complacent with what they want from you.

If you feel like getting into politics has affected your life in this way, I'd suggest separating yourself from any media doing that to you currently.

A lot of people constantly bring up politics in casual conversation or when hanging out with friends, and while I don't mind that at all in itself, I personally feel drained when multiple friends back-to-back want to go into deep political discussions or rambling and I lack the energy to really say anything and just sorta nod my head and shrug.
