Super Mario RPG Armageddon is a hack for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars by darkkefka. Much higher difficulty, rebalanced characters, new spells & equipment, and even new content are just a few of things this hack does.

Since the latest version's patch comes with a rom you must apply said patch to, a link can't be provided. Go and fire up the Google engines to locate it.

Time to set course for Tadpole Pond, but first, a couple minor things to wrap up in the Mushroom Kingdom.

First, back to the palace to get a hidden chest with a Frog Coin in the main foyer. Need a random toad to wander near it so I can jump high enough to reach it.

Finally, the item shop. Talking to the merchant here will reward you with a Cricket Pie.

Now, off to Tadpole Pond by way of the Kero Sewers.

At the entrance, Mallow issues a warning. A strong enemy lurks in the sewers. You would do well to heed this advice.

Fairly straightforward dungeon here. Just keep taking the nearest pipe you can see.

Your aim is to get into a room where rats pop out of cracks in the walls to surprise you. The chest nestled in the eastern corner of this room is what Mallow was talking about earlier. There's a super boss inside it, meaning stay the hell away for now. The other two chests are safe to take though so grab the frog coins from both before taking the pipe at the very top of the room.

Next room is simple. It's a room with a few boos and four rats dancing in a tight formation. Just grab the frog coin from the nearby chest and book it west to the next pipe.

The next pipe is down the narrow corridor with a few rats. If you're getting into any unplanned fights, this is likely where it'll be.

Of the two enemies I faced, Hippopos die to a single timed Shocker and Sewer Rats do light damage, but have one attack which can inflict poison to a single target.

After taking the pipe past those rats in the narrow corridor, look for a rat that's stationary just a bit to your north and east. Fight it or jump past it to the pipe in the eastern corner of the room. It'll take to a room with some boos and a switch. Step on the switch to drain the water out of the area, then go back to the previous room and take the pipe in the southern corner.

Next, save up if you wish and, if you require it, nab the healing mushroom from the chest.

I end up doing a little trick here where I get a set of boos to engage me in battle, then I run away and, while I have a small window in which that group cannot start another fight with me, jump on it to reach a pipe & chest. The chest has a flower while the pipe leads to you getting booted because you're actually supposed to access this area much later on.

Just take the pipe on even level with the save point to reach a beast of sorts. Mallow knows this beast's name, Belome. No surprise, Belome wakes up, declares a snack attack, and decides to fight you.

Belome is a bit of a breather after the likes of Mack. His physical hurts if you don't block it (~60-70 dmg without a block), but that's it.

Belome's real gimmick...well, he's a hungry beast and he can just decide to randomly eat Mario or Mallow, meaning they're unavailable for a short time. If this hits Mario, you'll need to be good with the timed blocks since Mallow isn't made of hp like Mario.

Of course, Belome kept eating Mallow, meaning Mario could alternate between Mushrooms for healing & Fire Orb spam for damage. Decent rewards with the Elixir being especially useful. Heals all allies for 120 hp and cures all status effects.

Afterwards...the duo gets washed away to the Midas River where a minigame plays out.

In the first half of it, you can swim against the flow of the waterfall to aim for the coins along the way (In both regular and froggy varieties). At the first fork, go left, then head into the cave entrance. You'll nab a flower at the end.

At the fork after coming out of that cave, go right and enter the cave here. You'll score another flower and move on to the second half of the mini game where you roll on barrels, nab coins, and dodge fish.

At the end, a man will trade a frog coin your way if you collected at least 60 coins during the minigame. If you failed to collect enough, no worries as he'll bank them until your next shot at the game. In the meantime, he hands over a free Flower Tab.

Next stop, Tadpole Pond!
