Super Mario RPG (Switch) - Part 23: Wedders and Warriors (Post-Game Part 2)
3After destroying Smithy and repairing the Star Road, some new wishes have been made at Star Hill. Upon investigating, we find some familiar faces back for another round of action. With two of these new wishes fulfilled, the Frog Sage now points us toward Booster Tower, where Booster is looking to show off his new toy, Engine 023. During the fight, the only attack Booster will use is working on fixing up Engine 023, while his Snifsters do most of the actual fighting and also rallying Booster to get Engine 023 finished faster. You can break Booster's concentration and stop his work with a perfect Action Command. If Booster completes his work, Engine 023 will massively damage your entire party, so be sure to break his concentration above all else. Booster has 3800 HP and each of the Snifsters has 2200, so powerful full-party attacks are your best friends here. Destroying Engine 023 Booster will give you Geno's ultimate weapon, Stella 023.
Speaking of the Booster Saga, the Frog Sage will next point you toward Marrymore, where Chef Torte and his apprentice have just baked another living cake! Extra-Fancy Bundt has 3900 HP and lights its candles twice as fast as before, thanks to the two Tortes. Hit it with regular attacks to entinguish the candles, and whatever you do, do NOT let all the candles light up! If you do, Bundt will unleash its ultimate attack, Celebration Shot, which is pretty much instant party wipe. It can also help to have Peach use Sleepy Time on the two Tortes to prevent them from lighting candles each turn. Other than that, protect against status effects and elemental resistances, and Bundt should go down smooth. Your reward is the Enduring Brooch, which prevents the wearer from dying once per battle.
Next, the Frog Sage points you to the Sunken Ship, where Johnny is itching for another duel with Mario. Just like the second half of the original fight, Duel-Ready Johnny is a 1v1 fight with Mario only, except this time there's the extra stipulation of no items. I hope you have mastered the block timing on his attacks, because they HURT this time around, you can't heal, and Johnny has a full 2000 HP and resistance to special attacks. Your reward for beating him is the Extra-Shiny Stone, which will be used to unlock the final post-game boss.
But before that, the Frog Sage now points you toward your dojo in Monstro Town. There, former sensei Jinx seeks to learn the secret of Triple Moves from Sensei Mario. This fight is unique in that Mario-Style Jinx can't be killed normally. Instead, he resets your Triple Move gauge to zero, and the goal is to fill it up with perfect timed attacks and blocks and unleash a Triple Move on him to finish the fight. If your timing is off, Jinx will call you out on it and instantly kill one of your party members, though this can be prevented with equipment that guards against instant death. Once the meter reaches 100%, unleash a Triple Move to finish the fight. Jinx will reward your lesson with the Teamwork Band, which increases the rate at which the Triple Move gauge fills.
After this fight, a familiar door will appear in town, inside which lies the final post-game superboss...
