Super R-Type | SNES playthrough | Real Hardware
0This is unique version of R-type that is visually spectacular but the slow-down is embarrassing for the SNES. Although the slow-down does help with dodging! The weapons are cool and the gameplay is great. It's let down by the fact if you die anywhere on the level, you have to start from the beginning - even on boss fights. And the levels are really long too. Checkpoints would have helped. I played this on novice mode and it was actually easy unlike most shmups of old where easy mode means insane.
To get the proper ending you have to complete this on the hardest setting which unlocks a harder setting which you need to do in one sitting so I'll swerve that challenge thanks.
