I use Sonic to go through All-Star Mode, and in All-Star Mode, you deal more damage to your opponents with your attacks, and you take less damage and knockback from your opponent's attacks, with the exception of stage hazards, which you have to watch out for. Sonic's best moves to use are his smash attacks, while he is a faster character, he can get in some damage on his opponents before getting off a smash attack to KO them.
As with Sonic's Alt. Trophies, the 3DS version uses his 6th alternate costume, that is the one with the yellow shoes and rings, and the Wii U version uses his 8th alternate costume, which is the one with orange shoes and rings.
I will go over All-Star Mode and which characters you fight against.
Round 1 (2015-2007): Corrin, Greninja, Lucina, Robin, Dark Pit, Shulk, Bayonetta, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina & Luma
Round 2 (2006-2001): Lucario, Lucas, Ike, Zero Suit Samus, Toon Link, Bowser Jr., Roy, Olimar, Villager
Round 3 (1998-1994): Ganondorf, Sheik, Cloud, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Diddy Kong, Ness
Round 4 (1993-1991): Meta Knight, Falco, Fox, Wario, King Dedede, Kirby, Sonic
Round 5 (1990-1986): Captain Falcon, Yoshi, Dr. Mario, Marth, Mega Man, Ryu, Palutena, Pit
Round 6 (1986-1984): Samus, Zelda, Link, Bowser, Peach, R.O.B., Duck Hunt Duo
Round 7 (1984-1980): Little Mac, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Mario, Pac-Man, Mr. Game & Watch

Sonic has two home stages in between versions of Super Smash Bros. 4, the Sonic the Hedgehog series at that time is the only series to have two different stages, in the 3DS version, Green Hill Zone is the stage, and in the Wii U version, it is Windy Hill Zone. Other stages you fight Sonic and other characters that made their debut in 1993-1991 are Dream Land, Corneria, WarioWare, Inc., and Dream Land (64) in the 3DS version, and in the Wii U version, the stages are Halberd, Orbital Gate Assault, Lylat Cruise, Gamer, and Dream Land (64).
The only Trophy of Super Sonic that is in both versions is the Final Smash Trophy, where Sonic transforms with the power of the Chaos Emeralds, and he can use it to fly around the stage at high speeds, but at least you can control Sonic moving around in this game, unlike in Ultimate where Sonic flies back and forth at a very high speed without much control.
