I use Shulk to go through All-Star Mode, and while you deal more damage to your opponents, this can be a good way to put Shulk's Monado Arts to use, and in Buster Mode, the damage is increased even more, and with Smash, it gives him increased launching power with his moves, his forward smash is one of the best moves to use, and you don't rely that much on Monado Arts if you deal increased damage anyway, and you do take less damage and knockback from your opponent's moves, but you do have to watch out for stage hazards.
Going over Shulk's Alt. Trophies, the 3DS version uses his 5th alternate costume, and the Wii U version uses his 8th alternate costume.
I will go over All-Star Mode and which characters you fight against.
Round 1 (2015-2007): Corrin, Greninja, Lucina, Robin, Dark Pit, Shulk, Bayonetta, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina & Luma
Round 2 (2006-2001): Lucario, Lucas, Ike, Zero Suit Samus, Toon Link, Bowser Jr., Roy, Olimar, Villager
Round 3 (1998-1994): Ganondorf, Sheik, Cloud, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Diddy Kong, Ness
Round 4 (1993-1991): Meta Knight, Falco, Fox, Wario, King Dedede, Kirby, Sonic
Round 5 (1990-1986): Captain Falcon, Yoshi, Dr. Mario, Marth, Mega Man, Ryu, Palutena, Pit
Round 6 (1986-1984): Samus, Zelda, Link, Bowser, Peach, R.O.B., Duck Hunt Duo
Round 7 (1984-1980): Little Mac, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Mario, Pac-Man, Mr. Game & Watch

About when I said that Gaur Plain shows up in All-Star Mode in the Wii U version, it does not, I have done All-Star Mode many times, and not once has Gaur Plain made an appearance, yet it is listed on the Smash Wiki that I use for information. For stages you fight Shulk and other characters that made their debut in 2015-2007, Gaur Plain does appear in All-Star Mode in the 3DS version, and other stages are Rainbow Road, Prism Tower, Arena Ferox, and Umbra Clock Tower, and in the Wii U version, the stages are Mario Galaxy, Kalos Pokémon League, Coliseum, Skyworld, Wii Fit Studio, and Umbra Clock Tower.
Shulk's Final Smash of Chain Attack is from Xenoblade Chronicles where Shulk and his party members can perform various Arts to deal huge damage to his opponents, the attack deals more damage when Buster is active, but it has less knockback, while Smash deals more knockback than any other Monado Arts when Shulk uses his Final Smash.
