Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Apr 21 19 A
Wow! You guys sent in your requests so fast! There were four valid requests, so all of them will be featured in this video. There was also a fifth one that I could not fulfill, but considering I replied to that comment, I think you've understood, fifth requester. In any case, that means requests are now open again, so anyone watching this video, or just reading this description, is free to request another character.
This will be the first online matches video after the release of 3.0.0 and adding Joker to the roster. Both Joker as a participant and his stage, Mementos, come up in this video, though not together. Rest assured, I bought the Fighters Pass when it first became available, so I will be receiving these characters and their associated stages, music, and Spirits when they release. (No new Assist Trophies, sadly.)
Originally, this was to come after the second Spring Fest video for Splatoon 2. However, making the thumbnail for that one requires I finish a bag of chips, which I haven't yet done. (It's a long story. I'll explain it in that video.) So I've put this one up for now. Maybe I'll put up some Earthlock after this if I still haven't finished my chips.
Match #1
Spirit Train (Omega)
Stock (3 Stock, 5 Minutes)
I AM PLAYER 1 (Samus)
Opponents:
Player 2: Justaco (Joker)
Player 3: Ian (Pikachu)
Player 4: NO F zero? (Mii Brawler)
Music: "Full Steam Ahead"
I was requested by BigKlingy to use Samus in the light blue suit. I believe this scheme is based on the Fusion Suit from Metroid Fusion, but I'm not particularly confident about that. In this match, I noticed NO F zero? was targeting me for the majority of it, though the way Justaco and Ian kept to fighting each other, I'm guessing these other guys are used to 1-on-1 battling and are treating a 4-way battle as two separate ones. I'm not as good with 1-on-1 fights, really. It did eventually coalesce into one skirmish though. Nevertheless, all of my KOs were to the Mii Brawler. Normally, it's more scattered than that; it's usually like this only if someone is focused on me.
Match #2
Final Destination
Stock (3 Stock, 4 Minutes)
I AM PLAYER 1 (Dark Pit)
Opponents:
Player 2: Emerald (Bayonetta)
Player 4: Rick (Link)
Music: "Final Destination"
MrMariosonicman requested Dark Pit, in his blue clothes, whatever they might be a reference to, so here is the battle! This may be Final Destination, but items, including Smash Balls, are on! The flat, minimalist layout of Final Destination causes some items to be much more effective than they're intended, like Bullet Bills. Some others get a lot less effective, like Boss Galaga. But one reason I wanted to keep this one is because when Skull Kid showed up and turned everyone invisible, everyone could still seewhere they were. Well, everyone except Emerald as Bayonetta. I had a Back Shield; Rick as Link had a Franklin Badge.
Match #3
Mementos
Stock (3 Stock, 5 Minutes)
I AM PLAYER 1 (Mii Swordfighter)
Opponents:
Player 2: Xevious (Isabelle)
Player 3: It's Maam (Zelda)
Player 4: ĞØÐ (Samus)
Music: "Last Surprise"
Keegster23 requested a MIi Swordfighter, anyone will do. Since the 3.0.0 update allowed me to go look for Mii Fighters from other people and bring them into my stable, I did exactly that, and I got this one. I honestly don't know who she is, but she apparently goes by Nekopara. Here, we get what I take is a rare occurrence, a stage on Mementos. And the regular kind! Mementos is a stage with one large, main platform on the bottom with a gentle slope with wo semisoft platforms above. Characters come and go and are just here to watch, but occasionally, walls or ceilings close in on the stage, preventing KOs from either the left, top, or right, depending on where it is. Sometimes, a subway train passes by along the bottom too, preventing downward KOs via taking damage like the acid in Brinstar or magma in Norfair. And rarely, a lightning bolt shape pops up and becomes a third semisoft platform. Lastly, the stage'scolor motif changes depending on which song is playing. This stage is so banned in competitive play, but that only means it's more interesting for me. (Also, that this is set in a surreal subway station unfortunately probably rules out Deepsea Metro as a stage.)
Match #4
Jungle Japes
Stock (3 Stock, 5 Minutes)
I AM PLAYER 1 (R.O.B.)
Opponents:
Player 2: RelliDom (Dr. Mario)
Player 3: Vic (Link)
Player 4: Quarter (Roy (Fire Emblem))
Music: "Donkey Kong / Donkey Kong Jr. Medley"
Finally, B-Squared requested R.O.B. in the Famicom colors, so here he is! There was a tendency for people to stand on one of the side platforms and throw projectiles down. Poor Roy, being the only character without at least one such projectile. And as luck would have it, someone disconnects toward the end, freezing everyone's GSPs. How has the SSBU development team never noticed this is a problem? (On the other hand, check out my placement of Pyukumuku on the leftmost platform to make it more difficult to recover.)
