Looks like enough time has passed since online Tourneys were introduced and the last new character came out (Banjo & Kazooie) that attendance has died down. Well, at least the kind where stages are in their default forms, items are on, and it's up to 4 players to a match. I actually haven't gone to the Battlefield/Omega 1-on-1 ones with no items. Anybody know how attendance for that one is like? Here, there are only 8 players, but then again, I was playing this within 5 minutes of it starting.

Banjo & Kazooie Count: 0 of 8 (0.00%)

Because these ones have become so short due to their low attendance, I've fit two online Tourneys per video, and I've held on to whatever I found was interesting. Either that, or they're going pretty aggressively with regional matching. Nevertheless, as long as there are enough people to have an online Tourney, this will be my go-to mode from here on out because I can find opponents under my preferred rules, Random is available, and it seems to be less laggy than Quickplay or Arenas.

Round #1
Venom
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
I AM PLAYER 1: Roy (Fire Emblem)
Opponents:
Player 2: Renku (Isabelle)
Player 3: TielQ (Lucas)
Player 4: anghelo (Jigglypuff)
Music: "Star Wolf (Brawl)"
Fire Emblem's Roy is not a character I've ever been that good at, not even in Melee, so I expected to do poorly here. It seems that Renku, as Isabelle, and anghelo, as Jigglypuff, have opted not to take the first strike, which was worrisome to me as I feared this would become a taunt party, but it looks like it isn't, as anghelo started fighting back against TielQ (as Lucas) immediately, and Renku (as Isabelle) joined in later. That latter strategy might work if this was Stock--waiting until the opponents are lower on Stock and coming in with an advantage--but it won't work in Time battles, like this, because when you're not fighting, you're not gaining points. Renku paid for that by placing 4th in this match with a score of -2. (That being said, even if it was Stock, either 2-Stock or 3-Stock, Renku would've still placed last, as they were the first to get KOed twice and the only one to get KOed three times.)

Round #2
Norfair
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
PLAYER 1: WINNER OF FIRST ROUND
Opponents:
Player 2: Steven (Peach)
Music: "Multiplayer - Metroid Prime 2: Echoes"
This match was pretty even at first, but it quickly turned against Steven when it was made pretty clear they don't understand this stage. Steven brought poor Peach into the magma again and again, stood in the path of the heat jets, and made no attempt to go into the shelter when the big wave came up. Steven knew how to use items (not at an expert level, but enough to understand what each of them does) and how to navigate the stage, which leads me to believe Steven is used to playing with hazards off.

And here's the second online Tourney!

Banjo & Kazooie Count: 0 of 16 (0.00%)

I guess he's now, well, just another character. I haven't checked where he sits on the most popular tier lists, but every participant in this one has chosen a different character. I get the stance to bring back every character who's ever been playable in a Smash Bros. game, but it's fairly disappointing that things had to be sacrificed for everything else, at least until post-release.

Round #1
The Great Bay
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
I AM PLAYER 1: Link
Player 2: :) (Bowser)
Player 3: Bromayo (Diddy Kong)
Player 4: Jason (Richter)
Music: "Overworld Theme - The Legend of Zelda (Melee)"
I managed to score a KO on Bromayo (Diddy Kong), and I think that made them angry because they spent a while trying to get me. Went after Jason (Richter) later on though, which is smart because Richter and Simon are characters who can slowly and subtly turn the tide of battle in their favor if left alone, which I foolishly did. But if you get in Abomasnow's way, your damage is going to add up quickly. Also, a Bowsercide is not going to work because there's water in this stage. That, and it's an utterly stupid idea to target someone at 100% damage when you're at 0% in Time mode, as we'd both lose a point and nothing would be gained. That must also be quite painful when the Burrowing Snagret popped up from the turtle's neck.

Round #2
New Donk City Hall
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
PLAYER 1: WINNER OF FIRST ROUND
Opponents:
Player 2: DAYlirious (Snake)
Player 3: aLaN (Ganondorf)
Player 4: toon sink (Arusu/Erdrick)
Music: "Ground Theme (Bandf Performance) - Super Mario Bros."
There were barely any musicians! This time, the stage was on New Donk City Hall, and the music was actually set to one of the tracks where you can approach the musicians and bring them over to the band to play the Super Mario Bros. 1-1 theme...but Pauline never showed up! Where is she in all of this? DAYlirious and toon sink were actively assembling the band as the musicians show up, but where is the finishing touch? (It seems that when Sudden Death comes up, all the musicians are gone again except for the drummer.)
