Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Oct 13 19 B
Also, sorry for the ten-day absence. In addition to me feeling more tired than normal, various things to do during then, and the ash from the Saddle Ridge Fire making me uncomfortable, there is one more thing, one that I'll show eventually. That, and finishing up gettig the skins in Tetris 99, which I'll also show shortly. In any case, here is the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video. Like the last one, it contains two online Tourneys, and the first of those two, in this video, fulfill a request by Ana Xisca to use Bayonetta from her second game.
Banjo & Kazooie Count: 0 of 8 (0.00%)
Oddly, the only duplicate character here is Donkey Kong, with one on each side. Something I noticed about him is that when he appears in a match, he will either leave everyone in the dust or get left in the dust by everyone else. Rarely does he actually stay close to the others in Stock or score.
Round #1
Mushroom Kingdom U
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
I AM PLAYER 1: Bayonetta
Opponents:
Player 2: Gus (Donkey Kong)
Player 3: Adhika (Ness)
Player 4: Saiyan-Red (Cloud)
Music: "The King of Pyropuff Peak"
Bayonetta is my worst character. It's because I can't really do combos beyond autocombos, which she's reliant on, and people who mastered using Bayonetta kept finding ways to make her overpowered such that this game's staff had to keep nerfing her, which results in Bayonetta becoming largely unusable by anyone but those masters. But the biggest killer for me is her weird recovery--I tend to forget in the heat of the moment that her recovery is her up-special, then her midair jump, then her up-special again. The tower segment was a killer in particular, since every platform moves, and I got Bayonetta caught underneath twice.
Round #2
Mario Circuit
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
PLAYER 1: WINNER OF FIRST ROUND
Opponents:
Player 2: ko_JP (Snake)
Music: "Circuit - Mario Kart 7"
For the second time in a row, someone using Snake advances onward as an opponent. I remember the one in the previous video wanted ot be sneakyand attacked with projectiles from a distance, then would go in for the KO once damage percentages were high enough. I could tell this Snake player attempted that, but it won't work in a 1-on-1 format, when no one will be distracted by each other. But the highlight of this match was Alolan Exeggutor, not only because its head is stuck in the road above, but the way it got both characters bouncing up and down between floor and ceiling like basketballs.
I hope there's an update later on to add in more Assist Trophies and more Pokémon. Guys like Galarian Ponyta and Cramorant would make for some nice Poké Ball Pokémon. But here's the next online Tourney.
Banjo & Kazooie Count: 0 of 16 (0.00%)
Should I even bother with these Challenger Pack character counts? Banjo and Kazooie haven't shown up for any of these at all. If anything, Pokémon Trainer appears to be the most common sight nowadays, as well as Hero, in which playing online resolves the language barrier issues that got him on the ban list in (offline) tournaments.
Round #1
Smashville
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
I AM PLAYER 1: Piranha Plant
Player 2: LuigiSays... (Joker)
Player 3: princeduke (Ridley)
Player 4: Dimsum (Luminary)
Music: "DJ K.K."
Pay attention to the little notice during the intro card to this match. It says that when you play in Smashville between 8:00 PM to 11:59 PM on a Saturday night, K.K. Slider will be onstage and perform. This match began at 11:55 PM, right near the end of his weekly concert. As for this match, that Dimsum, using Hero (Luminary), was scoring KOs left and right. I wound up with a score of +2 at the end of this one, but I had seen what Dimsum was doing, and I wasn't sure if even that was enough, even if I was the only one to score a KO on them.
Round #2
Big Blue
Time (2 Minutes 30 Seconds)
PLAYER 1: WINNER OF FIRST ROUND
Opponents:
Player 2: Nile (Donkey Kong)
Player 3: Reported (Arusu/Erdrick)
Player 4: basher09 (Pokémon Trainer)
Music: "White Land II"
basher09 ended that Round 1 match with a score of +4 but has apparently met their match with some of their opponents in this. That being said, Smashville is a totally different beast than Big Blue as far as stages go; Smashville is one of the most static and standard of stages, while everything moves around in Big Blue. They require pretty different things out of the way you play, and some characters struggle more on Big Blue than others. Pokémon Trainer shouldn't be one of them though; Squirtle and Charizard can get pretty good air distance, while Ivysaur has good air control. Similarly, Donkey Kong should be okay here because Big Blue's layout, being made mostly of slopes that move around, make it very hard for projectile users and should let Donkey Kong get close easily. But that's not how this one went.
