The new update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is live, and Steve from Mincraft is our newest DLC character, I never would of thought Minecraft of all things would get representation in Smash Bros., but anyway, Steve is a unique character, he has the shortest jumps in the game, and he is one of the slower characters in the game.
Steve has a mechanic that makes him unique, his neutral special is Mine, Craft, or Create Block, he will use Mine when he is on the ground, he uses a shovel to dig up some materials, like iron, wood, stone, diamond, gold, and redstone. When Steve is near a Crafting Table, it will restore the durability of his sword and pickaxe, and his weapons can break if used too much, and this is where he can craft his weapons, and if there are more Steve players, the Crafting Table can be used by any of them. Create Block is used if Steve is in the air and if he has any materials left, this can be good for prevent opponents from recovering, and it can work as Steve's own recovery.
Steve's side special is Minecart, he pulls out a minecart and creates a track, and it does use some materials, like iron, dirt, and sand, and you can have Steve jump out of the minecart, and any opponents caught in it are grabbed by it, and it can lead to a KO if your opponent cannot escape.
Steve has a weird up special, it is called Elytra, which will propel him upward, and he can glide, so this is similar to the glide mechanic from Brawl.
His down special is TNT, Steve places a block of TNT and a pressure plate, which if stepped on, will cause the TNT to explode, and it is a very powerful attack. His Final Smash is House of Boom, where he places a giant Piston, which pushes his target into the House of Boom, and we get a cinematic where the House of Boom has a lot of TNT and mobs, and even if it can hit more than one opponent, it will only trap one opponent in the House of Boom.
Steve has some very unique moves, for his neutral attack, he can move while swinging his sword, this is much like Mega Man's neutral attack. His up smash is Magma Block, which can be good for attacking opponents in the air, and his down smash is Lava Bucket, which affects both sides.
Steve does have some alternate characters, while Steve himself has three alternate costumes, his other alts are Alex, who has three alternate costumes, and the other two have only one, and those are Zombie and Enderman.
In this battle, my opponent also uses Steve, but uses the Enderman alternate costume, so my opponent is using Enderman, and out of the many opponents I would first test out Steve against, it would be my recurring rival who tends to appear in a lot of my online battles, but he does prove to be good with Enderman. I do find Steve to be a weird character, and I read somewhere that every stage was reworked to make use of Steve's block-placing ability.
