Super Tempo... the only Japan-only game within the Tempo series and the rarest title of the three... what's it like? I'm going to be perfectly honest with you; I'm not all that impressed. This game looks rather nice and the game has been expanded to an extent, but there's a few things I don't like.

I don't like Tempo trading in his "martial arts" (if you want to call it that) for a violin and the controls are stiffer than the 32X game. Besides his movements, he doesn't hover indefinitely like in the 32X game and in order to hover, you have to play your violin with the attack button instead of just holding down the jump button. Although you can make the argument that he can hover until he touches the ground, you have to alternate your button presses because he'll stop if you hold the button down. He also can't jump on enemies to hurt them unless they're trapped, which took me by surprise. I had to re-adjust for that as it's very easy in this game to accidentally touch enemies.

The cool thing is that both Tempo and Katy can be played with this time, the game has more variety in the level designs, the music is a little better (it has several tunes from the original game with better quality), and the characters are even more quirky than before (check out the little kids peeing on the plants and the one kid who pees a WHOLE WATERFALL). The game also tried to still make point scoring and level exploration an important factor of the game, which is a plus. Still, for a game made three years after the first two, it's still incredibly short from my understanding, the visuals are marginally improved (though they aren't nearly as headache-inducing), and the game is perhaps more of a collectors item than a game I'd consider "cream of the crop". I guess to summarize, I echo "Segagaga's" thoughts and I'm generally undecided. This game is definitely no Rayman.

Still, I'd buy it if you can find it for a reasonable price (by reasonable, I mean approximately $100 complete with its spine card and all... the game is often overpriced online). Lol, I know a lot of people are reading this and saying "$100 for some old Sega Saturn game!? I'll pass.", lol. Enjoy.
