Some people with the power of Superman can be shades of gray, like Dev-Em, sometimes a hero and sometimes a villain!

Original Text: Ready for some more 30th century #SupermanAnalogue characters? With everyone connected to the Legion, the various reboots get confusing, but Dev-Em, The Knave of Krypton, is no exception.
Dev-Em started out as a Kryptonian Juvenile delinquent that pestered Superboy. After getting his jollies in Smallville, he fled for more advanced times, traveling to the 30th Century and kind of going straight by joining the Intelligence Agency of that era.
I don't know if we've seen this much elsewhere, but this makes Dev-Em an example of a wetworks Superman. Kind of like a 007 with powers or maybe a Spectre from Mass Effect (what's up @reignitepod). He could fly around the Galaxy investigating threats and taking decisive action
As a morally gray but not evil guy with the power of Superman, he participated in a lot of the big events of 80s Legion stories, such as the Great Darkness Saga. This is the Dev-Em that I'm most familiar with, but my sampling is biased on the types of stories that were collected
And that was a good niche for the character back in the day. The pre-Crisis Legion (Well, most versions further into their runs really) had a pretty impressive roster, so a guy with Superman's powers stood out but didn't exactly upset the power curve.
But then Crisis happened and we weren't allowed to have other Kryptonians running around. Now I read that originally Dev-Em was made to be a psychic who could change his cells into Kryptonian ones, somewhat similar to how Colossus exchanged his organic matter for living steel.
However, the only story I've seen with him was as a Daxamite criminal. He fought against a time hopping Superman and Laurel Gand. The fact that this is presented as the same character actually bothers me a bit.
Since then, he's been restored as a Phantom Zone criminal, so back to being Kryptonian, but still just a villain (as far as I can tell, I haven't read anything post New 52 with him)
Oh, apparently this jamoke was supposed to be Dev-Em in the Man of Steel movie. I'm fine with that being an Easter Egg, but it'd have been nice if we were clued in by the movie
Anyway, Superman types tend to be pillars of moral virtue or terrible villains and it was nice to have Dev-Em out there back in the day as a cocky and selfish powerhouse that was ultimately not going to stand for anything really bad.
