Superman Analogue: Laurel Gand
With no "Girl of Steel" to stand by the Legion, they had no choice but to turn to a "Daughter of Valor", like Laurel Gand: Andromeda!

Original Text: Superboy wasn't the only Kryptonian whose absence had to he explained post-crisis; His cousin, Supergirl, was another #SupermanAnalogue and heavy hitter on the Legion. One character who filled the void was Laurel Gand, Andromeda!
Laurel as the name would suggest was created as descendant of Lar Gand, better known as Mon-El (Though in most timeline's that Laurel exists in he's called Valor). She's a Daxamite with all the powers and weaknesses that entails.
Her name is derived from Laurel Kent, a pre-crisis fake descendant of Superman. She first rocked a skirt version of Lars' costume, but she also wore a few outfits over the course of her appearances, with her orange outfit being her most iconic.
Post five year gap,she was around and in a more post apocalyptic design, as most of the team were. During this time, she encountered a time lost Superman giving us a no and a wink to classic Legion team ups.
She also made a background appearance in the episode of Superman The Animated Series, "New Kids In Town" that showed us a tease of the Legion in the future.
Because the Legion had a bunch of timeline shake ups after Crisis on Infinite Earth's, Laurel has appeared with various personalities and backgrounds.
Sometimes she was a classic heroine.
Sometimes she was a headstrong and brash warrior with a less serious vibe.
Post Zero Hour she was indoctrinated by the White Triangle cult which made her think Daxamites were the superior race (a hard to argue stance when you look at it...) but eventually she got over her racism and joined a convent.
Andromeda has been filtered out of continuity various times in order to bring in more modern Supergirl characters, sometimes the Girl of Steel herself, sometimes others...
I've always been a fan of her orange outfit. It feels like her own style, rather than just being a Supergirl clone. It has the same logic that Laurel Kent's design had, where if you are invulnerable you might not be as concerned about modesty. The star pattern was a nice touch.
While she might not be anyone's first choice for blonde girl on the team who can rip apart a spaceship with her bare hands, I always liked her. The Legion can always have more flying bricks in my opinion and Laurel was well defined enough to stand out! (For more: @LegionBlog )
