Surviving Mars #3 — Setting Up the Basics
44We completed the tutorial in the last episode, time to jump into gameplay proper! And whoo boy, what a jump it is! The amount of settings is not unlike playing Rimworld with the Prepare Carefully mod.
We set up the basics, a Sterling generator, a concrete mine, some cables, some stockpiles, and a bunch of drones who immediately go to work collecting metal. Nothing out of the ordinary. But then we get a quest!
That's right, this game even has quests with choices you can make! This time, we're asked to take care of clone colonists in exchange for some science and money. Sign me up, whatever helps my colony survive!
Then we set up some basic water and oxygen production to prepare for the arrival of future colonists. We research some stuff, survey some land, do some research, and the game tells us to build a habitation dome. And so we do, and we also fill it with all the basic buildings it needs.
Lastly, we pick and choose the colonists we want to welcome in our colony, nobody with undesirable traits is granted access, of course, and we order a fresh shipment of people to our colony.

Cultivate your own food, mine minerals or just relax by the bar after a hard day’s work. Most important of all, though, is keeping your colonists alive. Not an easy task on a strange new planet.
There will be challenges to overcome. Execute your strategy and improve your colony’s chances of survival while unlocking the mysteries of this alien world. Are you ready? Mars is waiting for you.

Combine static and random research through experimentation, which allows for a different experience for each journey through the game. Attain new scientific breakthroughs by exploring the uncharted terrain of Mars's surface.
