SWISS REBUILD: DEVELOPMENT AT SAUBER
20Monaco was a tough race for Sauber, with the Swiss squad having its first double DNF of the season: Pascal Wehrlein sent into the barrier at Portier by McLaren’s Jenson Button, and Marcus Ericsson skidding into the armco at Ste.Devote under the Safety Car.
It was a demoralising weekend - especially after the highs of Barcelona - where Wehrlein scored the team’s first points this year. The German-Mauritian finished eighth in Spain, bringing home four points - lifting Sauber to 9th in the constructors’ standings, above its current rival McLaren - which continues to languish at the bottom.
