Greetings

Ranger ashes of creation. I wont talk about the specific powers since those will change instead I will talk about its mechanics

Opinion

Steven and Margret said you can do a melee ranger and the UI has a swap weapon button. But only ranged ability where shown so the skirmisher stile of combat I puffer seems to be possible. The ranger plays very different for the other archetypes so far shown. Almost to the point I would think there from a different game. The ranger does not have a animal companion but you can get one threw the artisan system of animal husbandry. Also it is likely possible to get one buy combining the ranger with summoner to become a Beat master (summoner/ranger) or falconer (Ranger/summoner)

mechanics

range
There is no minimum range for ranged weapons but at least one power displayed had its effect change based on range being a single target up close and a AOE at range. The ranger is able to use most of it powers while moving and some powers incorporate movement into them

Hunts and marks
Hunts apply buffs to the rangers and some attack change ability based on what Hunt you have active. Marks apply debuffs to your target marks can be dual cast with attacks and your attacks can change ability based on what marks are on your target only one mark can be applied at a time but they can be switched freely so has your going threw your DPS rotation you might be changing the mark you have applied with each shot.

Imbuen arrows
before you attack you can imbue your arrows with special ability like armor penetration snare or extra damage I am not certain if having the same effect from a hunt or mark stack with the same effect applied by a imbune

Traps

Steven demonstrated one trap but indicated there is more then one Traps can be placed with in a longe range of the ranger traps have a duration but you can drop more then one at a time provided the cool down is shorter then the duration of of the presentation cools downs where turned off so I don't know if how many you might be able to do at once


Utility
Steven demonstrated a cc break that also give a short run speed buff. A disengage that at first make you leap backwards away from your target but can be trained up with skill points to let you control the direction to leap in this does not remove CC but will still work while snared.

Single target damage
There are three purely single target damaging ability these have the most interaction with the hunts and marks one is a charge up and shoot for large damage clearly a opener one that fires a lot of weak shots in a row like a machine gun this seems to be intended to where down the tagits HP so it is a mid rotation attack and attack that deals more damage if the target is below 50% hp clearly a finisher
also there is attack that change between single target or aoe

AOE
There are fore AOE attacks plus the one that charges between single target and AOE. One that can be either fire quickly has a cone or charged up to fire in a line it does more damage when fired in a line. There was also one attacks that just fires in a cone this attack seems to do low damage per targit but is fast and hits every target in the cone every time next is ability that fires several arrows up into the air that then land randomly with in a circle targets in the circle might get hit by multiple arrows or no arrows depending on the roll of where the arrows land those that do get hit get hit for a good amount of damage the final AOE has the ranger jump into the air and doing a anime stile twist firing three times down that burst for aoe damage this ability deals good damage if the target stays in the AOE for all three shots but if your not paying attention you might land in the midst of the enemy's and get chopped up by melee quickly.

Conclusion

The range shows a clear pastern of choosing between easy and reliable with low damage ability and high damage ability with some so of extra effort required tree or more rangers working together and focus firing can just delete a target before it has a chance to respond with all the mechanics of the ranger I don't think the ranger will make a good alt, this is a archetype you will need to devote to has a main to use to it potential
