[TAS] Doom E1M1 UV-Max in 0:18.97
I did a 19.97 second tas on January 28 2020. My text file included: "There are some things that are improvable, but I also got lucky with a bit of stuff. I won't say 18 is impossible, but it's certainly not gonna be me that makes it." Whoops.
So given that I said that, it seems foolish to again say that I don't think 17 is possible... but I really, really don't think 17 is possible. The only thing that could make it happen would be some very lucky infighting to save a shot, and that in combination with all the other stuff that needs to go right would be pretty crazy.
I found this quite hard, even with a bunch of easily improvable stuff compared to my 19 second TAS that I was quite too inexperienced to notice at the time. Much of this demo consisted of just hammering attempts at certain sections until the game begrudgingly gave in.
The first shotgunner can be shot faster... but not really. The first tic you can shoot the first shotgunner is 18, whereas I shot at tic 25. This is already a difference of 0.2 seconds less than 1 second into the run. However, shooting first on tic 25 was the earliest I had the good luck of getting 4 damage rolls of 15 in a row. It can probably be manipulated to be done sooner, but I didn't manage it. A very small amount of work was done to make the fourth shot do 15 damage, but this was quick, and the other three shots were 15 with no work.
When running back east I deliberately ran into the lamp for 4 tics. Running into this thing didn't affect my momentum, but if I ran out of the area any faster it appears I couldn't shoot the shotgunners, so I did this to stay a little bit closer to them.
I had planned on making a lot of small notes in the hope that they would be of use to someone if they're insane enough to try 17, but due to how many times I had to scrap reasonably large sections and start over I pretty quickly got too impatient for that.
