This version of the game was on a multi-game demo disc. There are quite a few differences from the full release:
- You can dash without a lock on
- Pressing R in air reduces your speed to zero
- Turning using R is inconsistent and very slow
- Everywhere outside of the current room's box is aether (which is why I don't really dash through doors)
- You can scan points from a different room
- For some reason, you start with Ice Beam, though I never used it
- The demo is much less polished: Samus handles worse, some animations look jank, it takes longer to scan things, using missiles is weird, etc

I'd say this is pretty unoptimized. I kind of just figured it out as I went, so it is what it is.
