[TAS] Red Stealth high score in Beneath the Twisted Hills (127,390) - Kid Chameleon
24While not optimal in a full-game TAS setting, the route shown here with Red Stealth is the best high scoring method in a full-game RTA setting. I decided to TAS this RTA strategy because I wanted to show a version of the strat that is extremely difficult to nail in real time. Normally, once Red Stealth activates and dodges the shooter blocks at the top of the level, you would have to go back a little ways in the level to respawn the platform that moves up and down the long shaft, as seen here: https://youtu.be/Yh1GsoxCyps?t=104). If you don't, the platform will have already started moving up past the shooter block at the bottom that you need to trigger to access the flag. BUT if you're insanely quick, you can trigger that shooter BEFORE the platform has moved past, and save a lot of time. This is a whopping 10 seconds faster, so 100 points better for 47,390 points. The remaining 80K points comes from busting open the eight 10K blocks in the level on a previous life, which was not shown here.
As I said earlier, In a full-game high score TAS, this is not the optimal strategy. That's coming next week as I recently discovered an improvement to it! :O and you definitely won't be pulling THAT off RTA, so stick with the red stealth strategy.
