What we have here is a perfect example of a dated game. That doesn't mean that it's bad. If you see reviews on this game today, most likely it will be trashed since it is very simple and repetitive. Not to mention short. The game is only 5 levels long and is stupidly easy. Today the game does not hold up very well. Some don't understand that this was a first generation Game Boy title. All the games were pretty simple in the first generation in comparison to NES games.

What the game had going for it back in the day was it actually had very good graphics as well as a great soundtrack. I really really liked this game back then because it was fun, and not punishingly repetitive like TMNT 2 which was a port of the awesome arcade to the NES. I also didn't care about game length or difficulty because I was a kid, and most kids don't like long and difficult games they can't beat. It is what it is. A first attempt at TMNT on Nintendo's first hand held console. Of course the game has been way outdone many times over since it's release, but hey, that's progress.
