Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Gameboy Advance Video Volume 1 (GBA) Playthrough
A "playthrough" of Majesco's 2004 video cartridge for the Game Boy Advance, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Gameboy Advance Video Volume 1.
This cartridge contains two episodes:
Things Change 0:28
A Better Mousetrap 20:42
Of course it isn't part of the Cowabunga Collection, but it is a fun bit of TMNT video game history. It was part of a big line-up of $9.99 cartridges that each featured two full episodes (about 45 minutes of FMV) related to a popular kids' series. There were tons of Spongebob Squarepants and Pokemon carts, but this was the only one ever made for the turtles.
But man, I remember these when they were a thing, and they were fairly impressive. In that weird time before cheap mass storage for handheld devices became a thing, this was a novelty. Granted, it looked terrible (it's a 32 megabyte GBA cart - would you honestly expect otherwise?), but it was just about good enough to be watchable, if you were able to find decent light for the non-backlit screen, and if didn't mind occasionally guessing at what the mushy blobs were supposed to be doing.
One last thing: I cut the intro to avoid any potential copyright issues. Everything else is here. Since this is only meant to document and preserve the unique "experience" provided by the GBA cart, if the copyright holders do take exception to this upload, I'll remove it.
*Recorded with a Retroarch shader to mimic the look of the original hardware.
