Welcome to the Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming every day! I am your host for this game, Professor Stu, and today we are continuing with TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist! This game is a latecomer to the scene and it is obvious: the graphics are cleaner and smoother, the gameplay has a higher number of sprites it can run on screen simultaneously, and almost the entire game is rehashed footage, enemies, and bosses from earlier games!

With that in mind, this game does have some serious advantages over its earlier iterations. There are also some drawbacks. One perk is that the turtles move much more smoothly and aren't missing frames of animations like they were in earlier games such as Turtles 2: the Arcade Game for the NES. A major drawback is that every boss and enemy in this game has been recycled from earlier games with the exception of Tatsu in the third scene and they even recycle him in the same game!

Scene 3 is here and with it comes a spoiler alert: Shredder isn't in his hideout! That seems kinda dumb to me but that is the way this game rolls. The scene starts with the turtles emerging from the cave that they finished the last scene in and they are immediately beset by orange Foot Soldiers and a pack of Roadkill Rodneys. After they are trashed then some white Foot decide to join the fray as well. After another pack of Rodneys as well as some more Foot, a new enemy arrives: well, not really, its actually just a pink Foot Soldier group; but these ones breathe fire! Proceed past them to more orange and some blue Foot as the turtles get up next to the complex and start following a white stone footpath. At various points a stone will jump up, being held by a Foot, that will then be launched at the turtles, exposing a cave that they can fall into and get hurt. After a plethora more of Foot the turtles will run into a group of Mousers right before they suddenly jump inside of the building.

Once inside, the turtles are treated to animation from Turtles 2: The Arcade Game for the NES as well as white Foot with candlestands that can be kicked around. Some orange and purple Foot will join the fray as well as the turtles move under large blocks of spikes that are mounted to the ceiling. The spikes can hurt the turtles if they jump into them so try to avoid doing such. Next up is the incredibly painful grass known as bamboo which comes shooting up through the floor in lines. Where do the holes go that the bamboo came up through? No sense questioning that as yellow Foot join the party as well. After what seems like a hundred more Foot of various hues some Mousers join the fight as the turtles come upon three suits of samurai armor against the wall. These suits shoot laser beams from their eyes as the turtles fight in front of them. Defeat this final group of Foot just past the samurai in order to progress into the final section of the scene: the boss fight with Tatsu.

As the turtles move into the dojo proper they are greeted by a twelve-armed Vishnu-esque statue of Shredder in the background as Tatsu taunts the turtles with the lie that they must defeat his Foot Soldiers before fighting him. You don't need to. In fact, he will just summon more if you do defeat them so don't bother trying to unless they are really in your way. Tatsu summons in three orange Foot at a time and chipping away at his five HP bars can take a bit of time. The good thing with Tatsu is that his primary attack, throwing kunai at the turtles, can be hit back at him for increased damage over what the standard turtle attacks do! After he gets hit on one side or the other he will jump to the other side of the screen and will toss kunai down vertically as he crosses the screen. Avoid these kunai as they cannot be hit back at him and continue to beat him down. Once his HP bars vanish Tatsu somehow explodes and the statue in the background drops down, exposing a secret escape tunnel! The scene ends as the turtles prepare to enter the tunnel....

That is it for this video, join us Friday for Scene 4: The Gauntlet! Smash those like and subscribe buttons and keep on gaming every day!
