Welcome to the Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming every day! I am your host for this game, Professor Stu, and today we are continuing with TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist! This game is a latecomer to the scene and it is obvious: the graphics are cleaner and smoother, the gameplay has a higher number of sprites it can run on screen simultaneously, and almost the entire game is rehashed footage, enemies, and bosses from earlier games!

With that in mind, this game does have some serious advantages over its earlier iterations. There are also some drawbacks. One perk is that the turtles move much more smoothly and aren't missing frames of animations like they were in earlier games such as Turtles 2: the Arcade Game for the NES. A major drawback is that every boss and enemy in this game has been recycled from earlier games with the exception of Tatsu in the third scene and they even recycle him in the same game!

Scene 1 opens, unlike any of the previous games, in the sewers with nary a purple Foot Soldier to be seen. There is a plethora of orange, yellow, blue, and later white Foot which eventually see a handful of purple Foot join them. There are also Roadkill Rodneys which join the fight but strangely there are no Mousers in this section.

The turtles then move up to the street where there is more background taken from the Arcade game but I suppose it works because they both take place in New York City. There are also the same fire hydrants to attack which can be used to hurt the Foot, manhole covers missing that hurt the turtles, and a lone car which tries to drive over the turtles. After progressing through this, the turtles drop back into the sewers for a final section.

After fighting through even more Foot, the turtles run into their first reused boss that is Leatherhead. Leatherhead hops in like in every other time he is fought and proceeds to insult the turtles' maturity? How confusing. Anyways, beat him down and the turtles escape the sewers in order to move on while chasing after Shredder who has the fabled Hyperstone from Dimenion X!

That is all for this video, hit those like and subscribe buttons and keep on gaming every day! Join us next week as we move on to scene 2: the Mysterious Ghost Ship!
