Tekken (PSone)
8Namco's answer to Virtua Fighter.
Tekken is a 3D fighter fought almost soley on a 2D pane (though you can change the camera to be overhead if you wish). It was also solid four button fighter that worked uniquely with each button mapped to a limb. Besides that, Tekken lacked the silly projectile and super combo attacks that SNK and Capcom were intent on developing.
As a European Playstation launch title, Tekken was one of the many reasons I was pumped about getting a PSX back in the day. Promotional videos alone would show numerous clips from Tekken's gameplay and beautiful full motion video sequences that were great for the time. However fast forward a year later and Namco would of refined what made Tekken into a decent one-on-one brawler into a near-perfect Playstation classic with Tekken 2.
Given so, Tekken now is almost stupidly dated in comparison and it is safe to say you'd be better buying the sequels instead - you won't be missing out on a whole lot anymore.
