Tensou Sentai Goseiger 8 Bit Remix
sub-par vid is sub-par, sorry. been busy as hell this past week.
tensou sentai goseiger is about exactly the same shit that every other super sentai series/power rangers series is about. a group of guys and the token Woman(tm) (sometimes more than one, if you're lucky - or none at all, if your name is taiyou sentai sun vulcan) gain the ability to transform into super-powerful counterparts corresponding to different colors n' shit. i'm not going to try and make sentai out to be more than it is, because that is all that it boils down to every time. its kinda why i don't really like sentai - especially relative to my love for the ultra series - for anything other than the fucking GREAT soundtracks. i haven't even watched a single sentai series in full, only handfuls of episodes from gingaman, sun vulcan, and MAYBE a bit of goseiger (if not only because i first liked the themes from each show before watching) here-and-there. there aren't really any curveball thematic-situations or super endearing characters. it is the most blatantly child-oriented series in a genre known for being aimed at children to the point where even i have a hard time finding anything much to sincerely like about it other than the soundtracks. everything in sentai tows the very fine line of being flashy/cool or abrasive/annoying. maybe it's just a taste-thing, but i can't get behind it too hard.
random topic generator time: "Have you ever saved an animal's life?" nope, but a friend of mine did. maybe it isn't my story to tell, but i don't care, he'll never see this. it's a funny fucking tale, strap in. dude was and is a big fan of nature. i've seen him gut fish with his hands and he's got a million tales of fucking around in the middle of goddamn nowhere as a kid. there was one time where he was on a farm - kinda like a barn-area, i guess - with his family. him and his cousins were all shooting bb guns around and he fuckin' nailed a bird perched on a windowsill or somethin' between the eyes. this is the only time he has ever actually hit any target with a bb gun - i've seen his aim. anyways, bird is fuckin' OUT but he went over to the poor sucker and it was still alive. he spent the next few days researching how to get the bird to stay alive, and it was pretty much on the mend. that is, of course, until he fed it a blueberry, which it choked on, and promptly died in his hands. the way he tells it is way fucking funnier than how i've recited it, because he unironically has a photographic memory and would remember stupid-specific details. his eyes once went fully catatonic as he explained the full plot of tarzan shot-for-shot to me within the same month that he forgot how to spell the word "soaring".
y'know, i have this vague memory of there being a sleepycast episode where stamper tells a very similar bird story but with a different ending. i think a lot about how sleepycast has been a constant in my life for probably over a decade now. i was a dipshit kid when it started and i've since grown into a dipshit man. i literally moved recently (this is why i've been busy this past week lol) and have been doing all of the stuff that comes with that and listened to a few episodes of sleepycast while driving here. if you're ever looking for a podcast that is actually good, go back and give sleepycast a shot if you missed out.
i'll even hook you up with a few episode combos worth checking out to get a feel for how it goes: s1e15+crazy scissor lady, s2e20+tinder update, s1e13, s2e3
don't say i never do anythin' nice for ya!!!!
god DAMN i still have space??? i guess i could talk about moving. i dunno, yeah. was hard to decide what to bring and what to store. due to the limited space, i only brought the books that i knew i'd want to read again at some point (suttree, the border trilogy, six copies of moby-dick, lattimore's new testament, on writing, h.f. cary's divine comedy, the complete works of shakespeare, random plato dialogues, and every japanese volume of ashita no joe (can't stress this enough: read joe. it is the only manga that i hold in the same regard that i do the other things that i've listed. considering how picky i am about shit and how autistic i get about art, saying that ashita no joe is on the same level as good literature and the only good philosopher should be a sign that something is worth your time)), the technology shit that i need in order to make these videos and write, and a few other little things for decoration. yeah, man. navigating life, as we all do. i spent half of the day yesterday decorating my desk space and had an embarrassing amount of fun doing so - maybe i'll post a pic to the community tab, maybe i won't, i dunno. i have this little snoopy figure that my mother got me a long while ago on my desk. kind of an artisanal-lookin'-thing. he's just sittin' at the typewriter.
anyways, i'll be on my way. see you lads next week - i promise that the video will be better!!!
have a wonderful day, gentlemen. god bless.
