The idea I had for this was to use digital synthesizers to recreate ambient nature sounds, I mainly used a series of sound FX synth VST made by xoxos to get the rain/wind and bug/bird noises as well as the thunder which was the hardest part and came out the worst (the crackling is alright I think but the initial boom was tough) Also used a "windchime" midi VST that simulates wind triggering notes like a wind chime, combined with a bell VST to get the chimes used in this.

And if you click on the creators name it will bring up all his other plugins which include a lot of great stuff like the bird/bug synths used in this. My other favorite plugins by xoxos are Boing2 which is a "bowed string" synth and Pling4 (plucked string synth) which I also used for some of the string sounds in this (the ones towards the end after the harp) He also makes an interesting horn synth for trumpet sounds.

So all the sounds in this (aside from the harp samples) were made from scratch using digital synths. The cool thing about the xoxos FX plugins is they are "physically modeled" synths that recreate the different parts of various instruments that gives them their sounds, this allows for some surprisingly realistic sounds but also makes them very complex to use. All his plugins are free too which is the best part.

Was going to try and add some more to this, like some acoustic guitar. But figured it may be best to keep it simple rather then make it too busy or long and ruin the ambiance. Did some simple post mixing in Audacity but tried to get it all dialed in good initially. Might try and add to it eventually or make a more complex sequel with some other sounds, tried to make some animal noises but it was the hardest.
