Supercharging is one of the key advantages tesla has over other electric vehicles. Elon Musk announced another expansion of the Supercharger network in order to cover “95% to 100% of the population in all active markets.” This works out to 23,000 Superchargers by the end of 2019. By comparison Tesla aimed to have 18,000 by the end of this year. They currently have 11,400. Making their goal short by 6,600 superchargers.

Tesla also plans to release Supercharger V3, a new version of the fast-charging station with a higher charge rate, next year. With other automakers starting to offer higher charge rates, it looks like Tesla is soon going to have an answer.

On a different note, Tesla is preparing for the colder weather with a feature coming soon.

The first feature request was “Would it be simple to add functionality to turn on the seat heaters using the phone app?” This is such a small but useful change and glad that Musk confirmed it is coming soon. Just as a side note; currently the car can detect people sitting in every seat. It would be nice when no person was detected the warmer automatically turned off for that seat. I would think this auto off setting would only adjust when when driving. That way you can still preheat your seats.

The follow up question was “Having a function to direct hot airflow to windows in order to facilitate them opening in cold weather would be appreciated too.” which got a “Good Idea” response. This should help negate some of the window opening issues in cold weather issues. However there is no timeline on a release for this feature.

Lastly, something I look forward to, Nav on Autopilot is coming to Canada next week. This is a timeline I believe since Musk did mention that Summon would be released to Canada next week and his timeline held true.
