the peak reverse tower experience

Tetr.io's new reverse modes are unlocked only after "mastering" them by hitting a total of 30,000m on each mode. They are basically normal modes cranked up to maximum, and since the tower was basically an intense speed up mode, the reverse tower is naturally a maximum gravity, or a 20G experience.

20G gameplay is the closest to learning a second language in this game; Pieces basically glued to the bottom means that you need to completely relearn how the pieces move, something that very few players have managed to truly master. That, with the lock delay of each piece shrinking as you ascend, requires you to make quick decision on what you have to do. Just stacking clean under this circumstance needs a lot of trial and error, but in this game this is spiced up with incoming garbage, and the general fact that you need to go for T-spins for faster ascent makes this a unique challenge you won't quite find on other games.

Continuing the analogy of learning a second language, I consider myself a block game multilingual in this context. Except, after playing Lv20 in Tetris DS for an unhealthy amount of time, 20G happens to be my first language and normal gameplay is the second. So after a long hibernation of my 20G skills, when the reverse modes dropped I just knew I had to gun for reverse tower. At the time of uploading this video, Freefall - or reverse tower - is still my only reverse mode unlocked, and I don't think I will bother to unlock other modes anytime soon because Freefall is just WAY TOO FUN. After a small amount of grinding and having my 20G skills fully awakened, I present to you this record run, jumping 175m from the previous.

Apparently the final speed of Floor 10 is 180ms, or 11f worth of lock delay. This speed is undeniably fast, but manageable for most players that know how to play this mode. The real deal would be how well you could keep the stack in check while creating T-spins and downstacking against intense garbage pressure. While this is a major jump from the previous record, the reverse modes are still fresh and there are contenders that can claim the next WR, and hopefully the 2km milestone. We'll see what the future holds. For now I am just really excited that the 20G mode is now getting some attention after remaining niche for the longest time.
