Continuing my attempts to fix the LCD on this Compact Computer.

I've got three of these machines - two have battery corrosion damage (A & B), two have damaged LCD panels (A & C) , and one is otherwise working (C). In part 1 I have transplanted the LCD from one of the battery damaged machines (B) to the working one (C).

After quite some effort, I'm thinking that maybe the LCD ... transplanted from a CC-40 that won't stay on and has some battery corrosion damage ... might also have some damage itself.

I spent most of the time concentrating on trying to fix one os the missing columns ... the first column of the 2nd character ... this is connected to SEG6 (pin 17) on the Hitachi HD44780 controller.

(The CC-40 characters are 5x8 pixels ... well, technically 5x7 with a gap and then a cursor line)

I've tried cleaning the LCD with isopropyl alcohol, tried the elastomeric strips from three different CC-40s (also cleaned with IPA), and also tried cleaning the PCB contacts with IPA and an eraser.

Next steps? New elastomeric (aka Zebra) strips? Try to repair the "soft ON" of one of the battery-damaged machines (B) ... ?
