Not much progress today.

Compared this "Leningrad 48" with another machine based on the same "open source" or "home brew" design.

Made up a cassette ... magnetophone or МГ ... cable and tried to load some software from the provided cassettes ... no luck. Had to do surgery on one cassette.

So it looks like I'll have to go back to loading via WAV file using Audacity.

The power circuit in the machine is pretty inefficient - considering removing the rectifier (hitting almost 70ºC) and smoothing capacitor, and replacing the regulator. It's currently drawing about 0.67A ... this should drop by quite a bit once the changes have been made.
