You know who's still a bunch of raging jerks in Starsector 0.95a? The Hegemony. I'm just out here on my own being a do-gooder trying to do some good for everybody. Even the Pirates are asking for help -- and I'm helping them too! But no, my goal of jolly cooperation among Humanity is met with scorn and disdain because I'm not doing it the Hegemony way. Sure, yeah, maybe some AI-gone-wild experiment nearly wiped out everybody here and things got pretty out of hand. That doesn't mean Hegemony patrol pickets need to break my ships when they can't find direct evidence of Black Market activity. Que sera sera.

Starsector is a game where you get together a squad of spaceships and try to carve your own place out in the stars. Will you turn a profit from trade? Or how about shoot down some pirates to defend a fringe colony? Bounty hunting sound good, or how about becoming a pirate yourself and turning the tables? The galaxy is open to you, just be wary of any AI you might bump into along the way. Although this game is still in Alpha and in deep development, this is one of the greatest games I have ever played and I am very excited it won the viewer's choice selection. The mechanics are deep. The lore is interesting. And once you get your feet wet there are all sorts of mods out there to play with.

And while the mods have not stabilized just yet the devs have been hard at work pushing hotfixes into the 0.95a client. Other than those dev updates, this is a vanilla run.
