Everything is Terrifying - Starsector 0.95a Update - Let's Play #5 - Apogee - Viewer's Choice
The "Normal" difficulty in Starsector is no joke. This is a given for anyone familiar with the game or genre, but 0.95a is clearly pulling no punches with the AI being given both better fleet selection and weapon loudouts. The pirates are deadly, especially early in the game. But add on to that a surprise hostile Onslaught while we're merrily skipping on our way to a research station? No bueno. Also in this episode: spooky ship graveyards, over 20,000 ore FROM SALVAGE, and a planet whose flora and fauna will fight to see which can kill you first. This episode is a few space bats short of being a Halloween special.
Starsector is a game where you get together a squad of spaceships and try to carve your own place out in the stars. Will you turn a profit from trade? Or how about shoot down some pirates to defend a fringe colony? Bounty hunting sound good, or how about becoming a pirate yourself and turning the tables? The galaxy is open to you, just be wary of any AI you might bump into along the way. Although this game is still in Alpha and in deep development, this is one of the greatest games I have ever played and I am very excited it won the viewer's choice selection. The mechanics are deep. The lore is interesting. And once you get your feet wet there are all sorts of mods out there to play with.
As the new update just dropped I am waiting for things to stabilize before enabling any cosmetic mods. This is going to be a vanilla experience through and through.
