It's pretty rare for Starsector to give you everything, and this 0.95a play through has almost been an exception. I'm swimming in ships and loot, but there's one thing missing: a good system for a colony. I've found an okay system with high threat and I've scanned through a bunch of useless or dangerous Yellow Stars. So today we're bleeding some cash and ignoring contracts while we hunt for the white whale. We don't need everything, we just need that one unicorn unique system that has a mix of good location, good resources, low hazard rating, and an appropriate mix of planets. Things have changed a bit for colonization in the latest update, BUT even so I still haven't found a place that checks all the boxes.

Starsector is a game where you get together a squad of spaceships and try to carve your own place out in the stars. Will you turn a profit from trade? Or how about shoot down some pirates to defend a fringe colony? Bounty hunting sound good, or how about becoming a pirate yourself and turning the tables? The galaxy is open to you, just be wary of any AI you might bump into along the way. Although this game is still in Alpha and in deep development, this is one of the greatest games I have ever played and I am very excited it won the viewer's choice selection. The mechanics are deep. The lore is interesting. And once you get your feet wet there are all sorts of mods out there to play with.

And while the mods have not stabilized just yet the devs have been hard at work pushing hotfixes into the 0.95a client. Other than those dev updates, this is a vanilla run.
