What's the #1 Rule of Exploration? - Starsector 0.95a Update - Let's Play #4 - Viewer's Choice
Today in Starsector we get to play Pirate Librarian and return an overdue book to somewhere in the middle of space. And that's all well and good, because we are on our way out to the middle of nowhere in space to find all kinds of goodies and treasure. Fortune may favor the bold, but there are some important rules for exploring deep in space far away from patrols or safety or any of that. Never flying with your transponder and making sure you have enough fuel and supplies for the return trip are important, but there's one simple thing I forgot to do...
Starsector is a game where you get together a squad of spaceships and try to carve your own place out in the stars. Will you turn a profit from trade? Or how about shoot down some pirates to defend a fringe colony? Bounty hunting sound good, or how about becoming a pirate yourself and turning the tables? The galaxy is open to you, just be wary of any AI you might bump into along the way. Although this game is still in Alpha and in deep development, this is one of the greatest games I have ever played and I am very excited it won the viewer's choice selection. The mechanics are deep. The lore is interesting. And once you get your feet wet there are all sorts of mods out there to play with.
As the new update just dropped I am waiting for things to stabilize before enabling any cosmetic mods. This is going to be a vanilla experience through and through.
