The 6 is Dead - V8 Conversion
36Hey Everyone, Dan from Aussie Garage and heading down to Phil's way as he has got something going on with the XC Ford Falcon Panel Van, very exciting. He has wanted to do this from the start of getting the Panel Van, so let's go.
Check out the 302 Cleveland Engine with a mild cam and 600 Holley secondary vacuum carby. It has Tri Y Extractors and C4 Gearbox going in as well. The 6 cylinder 250 crossflow engine ended up not firing on 2 cylinders and we suspect a crack head as there was oil in the water, plus always overheating. So the 250 Crossflow Engine is Retired but not throw away as it is a numbers matching engine for the XC Ford Falcon Panel Van.
The 302 Cleveland engine fills the XC Ford Falcon Panel Van engine bay with it extractors and other components. We had to change the Radiator from 6 cylinder to a V8 radiator, we got AU thermo fans for it and we had to get a new speedo cog for the speedo because we changed from a Borg Warner gearbox to a C4 gearbox. We had also get extractors for the 302 Cleveland engine and other components, however, Superoo Falcon Spares in Armadale had all the parts we need to get the 302 engine in. Tony, Leigh and team as awesome, have great advice and all the parts you need for your early ford.
We also changed the exhaust system from coming out the back of the Panel Van to now coming out the side of the Panel Van. We still need to get some work done on the exhaust as it need a X pipe in the middle to improve the sound.
The Column Auto had to go because the Extractors were getting in the way, so we put in a floor shift B&M Mega Shifter. The 302 Cleveland engine is in and running, however, we still have things to do on the XC Ford Falcon Panel Van to make it smoother and comfortable. We need to put in the suspension, lower the front springs and the rear leaf springs be 1.5 inches and add new shocks all round.
Dan will be redoing all the Trim as Vision Trim Shop for the Front of the Panel Van and for the rear, near steering wheel and projector with remote controlled screen being placed in the Van. That way, when we are at car shows, the Aussie Garage Promo Van will be playing our Videos for all to see. We had have not finished yet, we have some secrets being placed in the van that will given a model feel without taking away from its style.
