With the movie’s release being pushed all the way to 2022, The Batman movie has released its calendar year posters and it might get a little bit blurry, but there is more to each one of these boxes than meets the eye.

The first thing we need to talk about is Riddler’s close up look. Like I said it’s blurry, but we get to see how nitty gritty it is. With this Riddler’s drive to expose the truth, it’s no wonder he has that plate looking thing stitched over the mask of his mouth. Almost to say that he won’t say anything while the mask is on. Don’t believe me? Rewatch the trailer for the Batman movie, not only does he not make any quips or is really talkative like the riddler, but he even moves like a mute, silent, killer. The same drive can be seen here with “unmask the truth” painted over the Riddler. Then we get one of the Riddler posters saying “My life has been a cruel riddle”. This to say that he had been living under some false life, like we know that he killed Gotham’s mayor, so what if the mayor had something to do with tethering a whole community in Gotham to some horrible life, preventing any future plans to develop that they may have had. Or something like that. Usually, things like involving politicians or people in power, in a villain’s backstory involve the politician screwing over a bunch of people and our villain was collateral damage that never received an apology- sort of like Zemo.
Now what’s interesting is the poster with Batman and Riddler on two sides with the word VENGEANCE separating the two. You remember in the trailer when Bruce was talking to Riddler over the monitor and Bruce asked how is he a part of whatever Riddler is planning and Riddler said he’ll find out soon? Well, maybe in Riddler’s backstory there is a Batman: Hush scenario that played out. You know where Thomas Elliot, or Hush, is consumed by envy and desires the money, the real estate, the power that Bruce Wayne takes for granted. Riddler wants what he never had, and thinks he deserves it. Maybe he finds out Bruce is Batman and exploits that angle to receive just that power and money that he always thought himself entitled to but never received. Just going back to the poster of “Unmask the truth”, this could prove the plan to literally unmask Bruce. Another poster to enforce this theory is this one with the light shining predominantly on Batman, meaning Riddler is literally shedding light on his identity in this film.
Next is the poster with the batmobile across a Gotham landscape, saying I AM THE SHADOWS. Which could indicate the involvement of the League Of Shadows, you’ll remember these folks as the one to train Bruce Wayne. However, since this is a year 2 Batman and Matt Reeves, director of the film, says it is not an origin story, could mean that the League’s involvement may be restricted to a name-drop, a reference, or a post-credits starring Ra's Al Ghul or something.
The next one is of Catwoman on the motorcycle from the set photos we have seen with a big ol Selina Kyle written in the background.
The rest are simply just cool looking posters of Batman.
