Eternals Marvel Trailer Breakdown Easter Eggs And Black Knight, Celestial Origins Explained
Everywhere from Kit Harrington’s Black Knight character to Captain America and Ironman references, here’s everything you missed in the new Eternals trailer.
The trailer song that brings us in The End Of The World by Skeeter Davis 1962.
The spacecraft is where we meet Gemma Chan’s Sersi, an actress who actually had a role in Captain Marvel, and Richard Madden’s Ikarus, Ikarus being an all-powerful Eternal- love triangle between those two and Kit Harrington’s Black Knight character- who we’ll get to in a second.
Then we see Ajak traipsing down this hallway. She’s kind of the straight-up no mercy type of fighting- it’s interesting because Marvel
We get a few shots of Thena being ominously quiet, training on her own, and getting juiced up by these yellow things again! Seriously, doesn’t this scene look like she’s being charged? Anyway, Everything you think Thena may be, she is if you think of her as everything WonderWoman is.
Then we get a scene of Sprite, who we’ll talk about soon enough, just watching Bryan Tyree Henry’s Phastos
You can see Sersi, who can control matter, and produce anything she wants. Kind of like, when we see her touch the soil and produce water from her hands. You can actually see the yellow rings we continue to see throughout the trailer. Which now, we can say, is the source of their power. You can even see her later in the trailer turn a tree to water.
Ajak then comes over the trailer’s intercom to say that they’ve been inching the human race along and helped them accomplish wonders. I think she just means helping the people from Babylon because that’s all the human we see in this trailer! Where were you during Endgame? A question the movie has to address!
So, at this point, it’s a good time to talk about Mikkari who is the resident speedster of the team and clearly thinks pretty highly of herself, having collected a lot of things and even a throne. But, just chipping our way through this room of easter eggs, there are these black statues of wild animals, foreshadowing the villains of the film being The Deviants. Who can resemble such foul beasts and are similar to the Eternals in almost every way- we actually barely see one later in the trailer. Then there is a piece of Knight armour which foreshadows the appearance of Black Knight in the film who’s played by Game Of Thrones Alumni Kit Harington. Black Knight is a good guy, with a sword called the Ebony Blade which grants him powers of magic immunity, and he obviously becomes an expert swordsman and stuff!
Then there is Gilgamesh interlocking hands with Thena. Gilgamesh is a freaking tank in the comics. Superhuman, strength, durability, cosmic matter manipulation and a healing factor. He also looks like the Eternal that our team of Eternals will be meeting on Earth when they come back. Because, in the comics, the celestials made 100 Eternals and 100 deviants, so expect the movie to explore so many more Eternals in the movie.
Then there is Kingo, the bollywood movie star. Kingo, in the comics, has all the powers of an eternal, strength, durability etc. However, Kingo is going to be the comic relief in the film due to the now Oscar winning director Chloe Zhao.
The last Eternal in this superhero team up is Druig!
The final scene, Sprite of course references Iron Man dying and The Falcon ANd The Winter Soldier series killing off Cap officially too. And that guy sitting next to Kingo is his agent. Remember, Kingo is a bollywood star.
