"The Battle of Olympus" for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is an action role-playing game developed by Infinity and published by Imagineer (JP) in 1988, Broderbund (NA) in 1990 and Nintendo (EU) in 1991. A port for the Game Boy was also released. The game takes place in ancient Greece, and is mainly a side-scrolling adventure, with occasional platforming elements.

The gameplay of combines platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat elements. Players assume the role of Orpheus, a hero armed with a sword and shield. Journeying through various realms, Orpheus confront bosses inspired by Greek mythology, including Zeus, Hermes, Athena, Apollo, and Poseidon. Additional secondary items become available as the game progresses, primarily aiding in the protagonist's advancement to new areas. Upgrades can be discovered to enhance health, defense, and speed.

Featuring a somewhat non-linear structure, the game offers optional side quests that can ease the overall difficulty and lead to hidden items or power-ups from various gods. The climactic showdown unfolds within the Temple of Hades, culminating in a two-stage confrontation with the underworld ruler. Initially, players engage in a blind encounter against a shadowy reflection before facing Hades himself in his final form.

"The Battle of Olympus" for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a somewhat overlooked game with exceptional game design. Early encounters are manageable, but later stages ramp up the challenge considerably. The puzzle elements are also challenging, leaving players to decipher cryptic hints and navigate labyrinthine landscapes without clear guidance. Despite its occasional frustrations, the game remains a standout title, with moments of brilliance overshadowing its flaws.
