The BEST NEW VR zombie game since Resident Evil 4 VR?? // The Living Remain Quest 2 Airlink
1,084If you're a fan of Arizona Sunshine then BUCKLE UP because The Living Remain feels like the spiritual sequel we've all been waiting for (with a splash of Walking Dead Saints & Sinners). I've played TONNES of VR zombie games, I've played the best VR zombie games and I've played the worst VR zombies games, at this point I'm confident that I can pick out a good one when I see it...The Living Remain is a GREAT one! Thanks to @Gamingwithmatteo311 for alerting me to this gem, The Living Remain really is the best VR zombie game (in terms of a single player campaign) since we got Resident Evil 4 VR last year and if that wasn't impressive enough The Living Remain has been created by just two developers. Now I'm not saying it's perfect, this isn't the next Half Life Alyx and it still feels like an indie VR game in many ways but there are enough nerve shredding set pieces, smart environmental puzzles, gorgeous indoor areas & a fully fleshed out upgrade system in this new VR game to really set it apart from the usual indie zombie shooter releases.

For this The Living Remain VR gameplay video I intended to play the first hour but I couldn't tear myself away and ended up sinking just short of three hours into the game during my first play session. Unlike other VR horror games / VR zombie games some real love and attention has been put into the core gameplay mechanics and pacing of the story, set pieces break up the standard exploration and tense Left 4 Dead style survival sections are a great showcase for the amount of zombies the game is able to generate at once. Brilliant gameplay moments like using a fire extinguisher to put out fires or climbing across a crumbling walkway as hungry zombies wait for you to fall below take the basic indie VR zombie shooter idea and elevate it closer to the level of a triple A product. This is up there with The Wanderer on my list of the best VR games for 2022 so far.
