*Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - 8/10*
KotOR is one of the best Star Wars games ever, and one of the best original Xbox games. If you like Dragon Age or Mass Effect, check out BioWare in the days before they had EA putting pound coins up their bums.
*Ninja Gaiden Black - 7/10*
Hardcore. This is what your barber would call a quality game, mate (haha). Bringing a NES game up to speed with games like God of War and Devil May Cry. The hardest original Xbox games on this Xbox One list.
*Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge - 9/10*
Legit the best original Xbox game on this backwards compatible list. Crimson Skies is amazing! I always thought this was a sleeper hit. Dieselpunk, sky pirates, shooting stuff and generally being a wicked dude. This is a must buy original Xbox game.
*Fuzion Frenzy - 5/10*
This was a launch game for the original Xbox and was weird even then. Developed by the Oliver Twins’ Blitz, basically it’s physics-y party games. Like Mario Party but for the Robot Wars crowd.
*Sid Meier’s Pirates! - 6/10*
This is a remake of an old Amiga game, for the original Xbox and now the Xbox One. It’s solid. A proper pirate simulator, you’ll be doing all the stuff pirates do. Sailing, shooting, sword fighting, dancing… It’s a bit samey but the things you’re doing over and over are fun.
*Red Faction II - Alright/10*
Bit of a weird one, this. The original Red Faction was a better Xbox game IMO, but this one had loads of good multiplayer modes. Still a legit shooter, this is a landmark title by Volition and I love the art style.
*BloodRayne 2 - 4/10*
Bloodraynes 2 is basically “sexy” Devil May Cry, years before Bayonetta did it right. It’s alright but come on, there’s two reasons you’re buying it. Low bar entry on the original Xbox games compatible with Xbox One.
*The King of Fighters Neowave - 3/10*
One of the worst King of Fighters games on the original Xbox. The King of Fighters series is really good, KoF 2005 would have been a much better fit here. Right now I’d say avoid this and hope a better Xbox one comes along.
*Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - 7/10*
A solid original Xbox game, you can see the roots of Assassin’s Creed in these old Prince games. Some of Ubisoft Montreal’s best work here, and the sequel is even better so fingers crossed for more Xbox One backwards compatible games.
*Psychonauts - 9/10*
I love this Xbox game. This is what the original Xbox should have been all about. Wicked, gameplay, creative level design, a bizarre story and some stand-out funny moments. Easily the best original Xbox game on the Xbox One backwards compatible list.
*Dead to Rights - 6/10*
Yeah this is an alright Xbox game, kind of a second rate Max Payne, but you get a dog. Not the strongest on Xbox One, hard to recommend it over these other classic Xbox titles.
*Black - 8/10*
Solid, solid Xbox shooter. The big shtick when Black came out was that everything could be destroyed. In 2006 that was good enough to get the press frothed up. This was before shooters needed cover or tactics, You just shoot everyone and have a blast doing it. A must-buy original Xbox game for your Xbox One.
*Grabbed by the Ghoulies - 7/10*
What happened to Rare? This is another weird one, like Psychonauts. Great art style, but quite simple gameplay. If you liked Banjo Kazooie or Conker, this is a great original Xbox title, and something you don't often see on the likes of the Xbox One.
If you were worried there’s not a lot of quality games on Xbox One, or that maybe Xbox games cost a bit more than you’re willing to pay, then smash one of these original Xbox games on Xbox One (apart from the ones that got 3 or 4). I’d love to see more classic Xbox games dropping to Xbox One backwards compatible; Jet Set Radio Future, Burnout 3, Jade Empire, Soul Calibur 2, Splinter Cell 2. TIMESPLITTERS! Classic original Xbox games backwards compatible with Xbox One is one of the best moves Microsoft could have made. I'm revving up the hype machine. #Cultof2005 #Spiritof2005
