Deck building games and card based battle systems are really having a moment in modern times, but some games like Baten Kaitos were way ahead of their time in the implementation of these mechanics. This is my favorite Card-PG by far, and is just straight-up an amazing game… Unfortunately, it was an RPG on the gamecube, so, if you’re not Paper Mario, you’re basically fated to be somewhat obscure. So here I am to give Baten Kaitos the praise it deserves and make dumb jokes :)
