New series where I play through and demo some original PlayStation demo discs. Starting off, we'll look at the first of the Pizza Hut demo discs. These were free and very popular back in the day. You could get 'em for free with a pizza order. Nobody out pizza's The Hut. NOBODY! Capisce?

EDIT: Two things - in the Tomb Raider 3 demo, the door where Laura kept saying 'No.', I needed to go through my inventory and use the key I picked up. Maybe if she said 'Hmm... I need a key for this.', or if keys were automatically used like in most other games, I would've figured that out.

Then in MediEvil, there was A LOT more demo left, I just happened to accidentally run into the demo exit. Just bad luck there, still really curious about playing that game for real though.

Anyway, if I had to rank these games on enjoyment/replay-ability/promise, ignoring the official release, I'd say:
1. Metal Gear Solid, a good hour long demo where you can experiment with many gameplay elements in 4 distinct areas and a lot of gear, while being teased by the story.
2. Gran Turismo, solid racing, even though it's just one track you can race, you do have two different cars, two different modes of control (automatic and manual), and three difficulties. You can get a lot of gameplay out of that and revisit it quite a bit
3. MediEvil, pretty fun, a bit of a wonky camera, but it does give you the intro story, walks you through the controls and gameplay elements, throws quite a bit of equipment at you, and there's actually some longer levels and secrets in the levels to keep you coming back. The charm-factor also counts for a lot.
4. Tomb Raider III, the control and camera are garbage-tier, and the game gives you zero direction or explanation of what you're doing, why you're doing it, and where you are. It's insanely cryptic, but unfortunately, it does get a higher placement for that exact reason, since out of confused-bewilderment I could see myself revisiting this demo just out of morbid curiosity of wanting to figure out all this.
5. Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped, so unfortunate. It's one of my favorite PS1 games, yet they couldn't have chosen a worse level. It's too easy, and you can 100% it on your first try within 3 minutes. Giving zero reason to revisit. Sad.

Timecodes:

00:00:00 - intro
00:03:06 - Crash Bandicoot Warped
00:07:45 - Metal Gear Solid
00:54:52 - MediEvil
01:09:48 - Gran Turismo
01:19:20 - Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Laura Croft
