The Cronus Camp for Wayward Boys | No Failure Runs | Part 7
When it comes to the later half of a stealth game, most IPs would aim to amp up the dangers while making sure that players still use the same skillset they learned throughout the entire game. The Maw of Chaos from Thief 1 and Sabotage at Soulforge of Thief 2 are good examples, keeping the tension at its peak while keeping stealth in check. The way you defeat The Trickster in Thief 1 pretty much FORCES you to use stealth lest you get blown to smithereens.
Episode 3 of Cronus Camp doesn't do that.
What it does instead is have enemies just spot you no matter the distance nor light. It does it for the majority of the episode (if there's times where they don't, I've stopped caring to check). Some of the maps are particularly beyond frustrating for this reason because those enemies who can spot you instantly also wield weapons that can sandblast you out of existence in one hit. I without a single doubt personally think that if this entire episode were to be removed, the experience would actually be improved. Just have the entire Ms. Dane fight and the computer sitting nicely in the middle of Labyrinth, and it would literally be an improvement over what will happen in the next couple of parts of this series.
From The Trenches onwards, my hands will be dirty. Whatever patience I have has sadly departed. Expect no more ghost runs.
