Back in February Helldivers II released to critical praise and a commercial success so rapturous that it wrecked the game's stability for weeks. Still, Divers supported the game throughout its difficulties, and game quickly built a reputation for how to do a live service game properly.

All that good will went out of window on May 3rd... the day that Helldivers ALMOST died.

Sony planned to make PlayStation accounts mandatory on PC in order to play the game, This plan was quickly reversed after the game received over 160k negative reviews on Steam and mass refunds from consumers.

Will Sony actually learn anything from this debacle, however..?
